JAZZx NOW: the competition stage of JAZZx.

For 2 days at Iulius Town Timișoara, we’ll explore the new directions jazz is taking today through artists pushing the genre into fresh, unexpected territory.

Out of more than 160 entries from all over the world, 5 finalists were selected for this year’s competition. Only one of them will take home the grand prize and open the main stage at JAZZx 2027.

Joining them are two special invited acts: Giga Jazz Machine 3000 and Muzica Militară a Brigăzii 18 ISR, bringing both a warm welcome to our contestants and a familiar local energy to the festival.

A project balancing contemporary jazz, improvisation and cinematic textures, moving naturally between subtle moments and intense rhythmic passages.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲
Based in Berlin and shaped by her French-Cuban roots, Charlotte blends retro soul with modern grooves in an emotional, rich sound carried by a voice that stays with you long after the song ends.

Together with her 4-piece band, she creates a live show that moves effortlessly between intimacy and explosive energy.

𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗶𝗻
Originally from Rotterdam, the keyboardist, producer and composer mixes dub, afrobeat, jazz and electronic influences into a fluid sound that moves between deep grooves and immersive sonic textures.

𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗱𝗮 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗱𝗲
A four-piece band built around trumpet, guitar, bass and drums, blending hip-hop, funk and jazz into an energetic sound driven by rhythm and movement.

𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘇𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘂 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗼
A contemporary jazz trio from Romania whose sound sits between tradition and exploration, combining original compositions with fresh reinterpretations shaped by warmth, groove and spontaneity.

𝗚𝗶𝗴𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝘇𝘇 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝟯𝟬𝟬𝟬
A vibrant showcase project where each member steps into the spotlight with original compositions reflecting their own musical identity. Since their debut in 2024, the band quickly became one of the freshest names on Bucharest’s jazz scene.
